Menstrual cramps. Raspberry bud extract: an aid against menstrual pain and menopause, a valid ally for women. We talk about it.

The raspberry that we know and tasty, particularly rich in vitamin C, manganese, copper and iron, is the common name of the false fruit of Rubus idaeus, a shrub of the Rosaceae family. Not only the fruit of Rubus Idaeus is used: in the popular tradition, for example, the leaves know a use as a purifier for blood and skin. The leaves have in fact a diaphoretic, diuretic and choleretic action and, due to the concentration of tannins, they are used in gastroenteritis and intestinal inflammation while for topical use in oropharyngeal phlogosis, in rashes and skin inflammations. But it is above all the glycerin macerate that shows antispasmodic action at the uterine level due to the presence of a set of muscle relaxants, which justify its use in dysmenorrhoea (menstrual cramps). The action of the bud extract, however, is not over here!

Raspberry bud extract: what it is

The raspberry bud extract is the glycerine macerate of the young shoots of Rubus idaeus, diluted to 1DH and is a true endocrine rebalancing for women, young and old.

Raspberry bud extract: properties and main indications

The raspberry bud extract has an elective organotropism against the female genital apparatus and the pituitary-ovary axis (Brigo B., op. Cit., 2004): due to its antispasmodic action in the uterine and antisenescent female it is considered a medicament of dysendocrinias of both puberty and menopause (2) and dysmenorrhoea (1). Finally, at the level of the nervous system, it shows decontracting and antispasmodic properties that contribute to restoring the neurovegetative balance.

Also Pol Henry, father of gemmotherapy, in one of his works specifies that Rubus ideaus is definitely indicated for gynecological disorders: female hypogonadism (amenorrhea, puberty hairiness); menopausal menopause for endometrial hyperplasia; secondary amenorrhea of iatrogenic early menopause.

Raspberry bud extract and menses

The raspberry bud extract will be invaluable during adolescence (1) when the menstrual flow is slow to settle (late menarche) and secondary sexual signs (breast development, hair system, etc.) will also be delayed.

According to Tétau, the presence of a set of muscle relaxants (fragarina, etc.), responsible for the antispasmodic action at the uterine level, justify its use in dysmenorrhoea. Dysmenorrhea or painful menstruation is a menstrual alteration, accompanied by general or local disorders and pain, generally affecting the pelvic region and the abdomen. The action of Rubus manifests itself preferentially in the pains that appear at the beginning of menstruation, or on the eve, and which diminish or disappear when the flow is established. This is the dysmenorrhea that is found mainly in adolescents and is related to a uterine spasm.

It can be useful, however, also in the premenstrual syndrome characterized by water retention, increased breast tension, irritability, insomnia and so on.

Raspberry bud extract and menopause

As a regulator of ovarian function (2), it is indicated for the treatment of early menopause: it stimulates the ovaries when their function is slowed down, as regards both estrogen and progestin secretion.

In addition, it completes the action of the cranberry bud extract (Vaccinium vitis idaea) in the full-blown menopause, acting effectively in hot flushes.

P. Henry reports its use in menorrhagia (“menorrhagia” means an excessive blood loss) of menopause sustained by endometrial hyperplasia and secondary amenorrhea of early iatrogenic menopause. “Secondary amenorrhea” means the interruption of menstruation for at least six consecutive months in a woman with regular cycles.

Cit., P. 116) . In the case of early menopause it is usually advised, from the scientific literature, to take raspberry gemmoderivato in the morning, 50 drops in water before breakfast and / or lunch and the cranberry bud derivative, 50 drops in water, before going to bed, for 3 month cycles (20 days of treatment and 10 days of pause).
